The origin of Black Sheep Distillery dates back more than three decades ago. We started dating as teenagers — barely old enough to drive, let alone vote or legally drink. We marched our way together through Dean’s military service in the Marine Corps and were inseparable during his college days at D’Youville College.
In 1993, we took the plunge and got hitched. The oddsmakers would have laughed at the chances of our marriage surviving. We were “too young.” And… Queue the irony… Would you believe that we were carded and denied drinks at our own wedding?
Our veteran-owned and operated distillery is intended to honor all armed servicemen and women whom have unknowingly helped make this dream possible through their sacrifices. We promise to dedicate a percentage of our profits to causes that support returning veterans and their families.
Our mission as a true New York State Farm Distillery with our hand-made and upcycled distillation equipment is to develop a small, yet diverse selection of handcrafted, high-quality spirits that represent the terroir of our property, the Finger Lakes and New York State.
